As summer comes to an end, we wanted to give a shoutout to the 32 High Schools of the Future interns who joined us the last few months at the Science Center!

This exceptional group of rising seniors came from Ferris High School in Jersey City and Memorial High School in West New York, and joined us in three different cohorts over the summer.

During their time at LSC, the students developed their presentation and collaboration skills, as well as got experience with customer service and working in a professional setting.

Some highlights of the program included participating in a Customer Interactions and a Critical Thinking workshop led by Bank of America; job shadowing LSC’s Box Office staff; and learning from LSC team members within a wide range of areas, including IT, STEM, engineering, the planetarium, animal programs, and more.

At the end of the internship, students put their newfound skills to use by leading a presentation to a large audience about what they learned and gained from the experience.

The students also practiced small scale presenting by conducting pop-up science demonstrations to campers at LSC Science Camp.
