Beyond Rubik's Cube

In honor of #ThrowbackThursday, we're looking back at the Rubik's Cube Speed Cubing Competition, held last month at LSC!

The event was a huge success. Talented speed cubers from around the state came to the Science Center for a series of competitions, including 3x3x3 Cubes, 4x4x4 Cubes, one-handed solving, and more.

Check out this video of competitor Dana Yi solving the puzzle in 8.38 seconds. A Cherry Hill resident, Yi is one of the fastest cubers in the world, currently ranked #20 by the World Cube Association.

The winner of LSC's competition last month was fellow NJ resident Patrick Ponce, who won with a 7.74 second average. Ponce recently held the title of reigning 3x3x3 world record holder with a solve of 4.69 seconds.

Wow, there are so many talented speed cubers out of the Garden State! We love it!
