Zombies invade Liberty Science Center at LSC After Dark: Zombtoberfest
The zombie apocalypse came to Liberty Science Center last night, and yet the building never felt more alive.
Yesterday evening, we continued our monthly LSC After Dark parties for guests 21+ with “Zombtoberfest,” a perfect celebration for the Halloween season. The building was packed with guests dressed as zombies, witches, skeletons, demons, celebrities, super heroes, scientists and more.
Even people who showed up without a costume were in for a treat, as professional makeup artists from the School of Makeup Effects were there to give out zombie makeovers to anyone who wanted to get “zombified.”
As with the previous LSC After Dark parties, we offered a wide selection of delicious food, beer, wine and smoking cocktails, served by zombie bartenders. But this time, we also offered a “Bug Buffet” in the Zombie Biergarten, where guests had the opportunity to eat real crickets, scorpions and tarantulas and learn about their nutritional value.
This month’s laser show offering was the “SpooktacuLaser Show!” Guests filled our massive IMAX Dome Theater and sang along to Halloween classics from Ghostbusters, Michael Jackson, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and more.
Guests also got to learn real-life zombie science. One of our scientists walked around the building with a zombie chained on a leash, explaining to guests what would actually happen to their brains if they got infected with a zombie virus.
Jersey City blogger Lynn Hazan, also known as “ChicpeaJC,” continued to rock the night as our LSC After Dark Ambassador, along with host/emcee Haytham Elgawly. They were joined by Jersey City DJ Rob Cast, who made sure everyone had a scary good time on the dance floor.
Those looking for a thrill were invited to enter our Doom Zoo haunted laboratory – a terrifying walkthrough that left many people shaken and speechless. For a less traumatic experience, guests got to step into the shoes of a surgeon and experiment on real pig hearts.
We also had a costume contest, though choosing a winner was tricky because there were so many creative and impressive outfits in the building.
Ultimately, we crowned two winners – the Goat Devil and Chiquita Banana!
