Now Open!

Liberty Science Center has reopened, and we can't wait to see you again! Click here to get tickets now.

Our hours are Thursdays and Fridays from 10 am to 4 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 5 pm.

With our reopening comes new and returning adventures for the whole family. Discover the art, history, and skill behind the iconic Rubik's Cube puzzle in Beyond Rubik's Cube. Soar through space in one of our new planetarium presentations. Join your favorite characters from the DC Universe, including Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, in DC Super Heroes: Discover Your Superpowers. Explore beloved children's books, including If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and The Tale of Peter Rabbit, as they come to life in Storyland: A Trip Through Childhood Favorites. Visit our animals (they’ve missed you!) including the naked mole rats, cotton-top tamarin monkeys, and dozens more.

We're also celebrating The Spooky Season at Liberty Science Center from Oct. 15 through Nov. 1. Enjoy free Halloween fun all over the building! Our fan-favorite Spider Maze is back, just outside the main entrance. Make your way through the maze and learn about some eight-legged wonders along the way. Inside, follow the Face Your Fears Path to learn about five phobias. You can earn a sticker at each stop that allows you into our Pumpkin Patch to pick a pumpkin. Plus, costume contests and trick or treating on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.

Don't forget to check out our new programs, like Boom Time. Join us as we show off controlled explosions several times throughout the day. All the action takes place in our one-of-a-kind, 57-square-foot movable safe room made of polycarbonate walls (the same material used for bullet-proofing). Experience the excitement of liquid nitrogen explosions as we blow up things like watermelons, bouncy balls, pumpkins, and more.

We’ve made some changes to keep everyone safe and healthy during your adventure at the Science Center.

reopen icon_mask.png

Wear a face mask

Guests age 2 and older must wear face masks throughout your entire visit. All of our staff members will be wearing them, too. Masks must fully cover the nose and mouth and secure under the chin. Neck gaiters, bandannas, and masks with one way air valves are not acceptable.

reopen icon_distance.png

Keep a safe distance

Guests must stay at least six feet away from other guests and LSC staff. We recommend leaving strollers and bulky items home, as lockers are closed and elevator capacity is limited.

reopen icon_sick.png

Stay home if you’re sick

For the health and safety of yourself and others, we ask guests to stay home if you have a fever or cough, are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, have recently traveled to a hot spot state, or have a known or potential exposure to COVID-19 within the last 14 days. You must reschedule your ticket for another day (by calling 201.253.1310) as you won't be permitted to enter the Science Center.

Keep your hands clean

Wash your hands frequently. We’ll also have hand sanitizer stations readily available throughout the building.

reopen icon_food and drink.png

Consume food and drink outside

For health and safety, our cafe is closed. Guests are encouraged to make use of the outdoor picnic tables for eating and drinking. There is a limited seating area for consuming food and drinks inside the building. Some snacks and drinks are available for purchase.

reopen icon_brain.png

We’ve created fun and safe new experiences

Our team has worked hard to create fun new COVID-safe experiences. For everyone’s safety, some exhibitions will be adjusted or temporarily closed. Our planetarium will be open at reduced capacity.

reopen icon_sanitizer.png

We’ve increased daily disinfecting and sanitizing protocols

There will be special attention paid to highly trafficked areas and high-touch surfaces throughout the building and its exhibits.

reopen icon_temp check.png

We’re doing temperature checks

Guests and staff must participate in onsite health screenings, including temperature taking when entering the building. If you register as 100.4°F or higher, your party will have to return another time.

reopen icon_air.png

We’ve improved air quality in the building

LSC is a 300,000-square-foot facility with large open rooms. All of the air filters have been changed and upgraded to a quality exceeding the CDC recommendation. We’ve also optimized our air handling system and increased its run times to allow for significantly more air exchanges, bringing more fresh air from outside into the facility more often throughout the day.

reopen icon_capacity.png

We're limiting total capacity in the building

We’re limiting total capacity to less than 25% to help guests maintain distance.
