Tickets are on sale for LSC After Dark: SciChella, April 19, 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm. It’s the next best thing to California’s legendary music and arts festival, with a scientific twist. Guests 21 and over are invited to join us for a night of music, tech, and art, as well as delicious food and drinks.

1) Tie dye slime

At LSC After Dark: SciChella, tie dye isn’t just a fashion choice, but also an amazing science experiment! Join our educators as they show you how to make tie dye slime. You’ll even get to take some home.

2) Local artists

Exp.Inst.Wood by Balam Soto

Experience the work of nine local Jersey City artists: Ryan Margaca, Alexandra Rosano, Joseph Nelson, David S., Moe Murdock, Joi-Louise, Jenna Polascak, Tas Alleah and Balam Soto. View their creations and even learn how some of them are incorporating techie elements into their work.

3) Giant slide

If you haven’t gone down a slide since you were a child, well then, you’re in luck – we’ll have a giant slide at SciChella! Let your inner kid out for one night. No shame, no judgement.

4) Making music with the Tesla coil

Beyonce may light up the stage, but so does our one-million-volt Tesla coil. Play your favorite song on a keyboard that’s connected to the Tesla coil and experience the most electrifying concert of your life.

Plus, watch as professional piano players show off their skills throughout the night.

5) Delicious food from Midnight Market

Under The Bun BBQ and Burgers

Like any good festival, one of the best parts of LSC After Dark: SciChella is the food. Midnight Market returns this month with amazing local vendors. This month we’ll be joined by Under The Bun BBQ and Burgers, Sisig City, Waffle It & Co, Gusti di Sicila, Caked Up, Lechon de Negron, Meta Asian Kitchen, and Mozzarepas.

6) Dream Machine – new LSC exhibit!

Be one of the first to experience LSC’s newest exhibit, the Dream Machine, which is making its official debut at SciChella. Embark on an interactive, sensory adventure that combines smell with sound, touch, and light.

7) Make your own friendship bracelet and flower crown

Experience SciChella in style! Use materials to create your own friendship bracelet and flower crown, then share your photos with us online. When you use the hashtag #LSCAfterDark on Instagram, your pictures will show up on our giant social media board.

8) Free amaretto tasting

Enjoy a free amaretto tasting, courtesy of Jersey City Super Buy-Rite. You’ll receive your tickets for the drink tasting at the door.

9) Adventures in the Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium and LSC Giant Dome Theater

Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium and LSC Giant Dome Theater

There will be multiple shows playing throughout the night in the Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium and LSC Giant Dome Theater, the largest planetarium in the Western Hemisphere, including Foo Fighters Laser Show and Saturn LIVE!

LSC is a nonprofit organization, and when you make an additional $5 donation to support our programs for 91,000 students from at-risk communities, we’ll thank you with a ticket to one of these exhilarating shows. (Please make your donation in person at the event.)

10) New baby degus

Baby degus

Four baby degus are the newest residents at Liberty Science Center, and we can’t wait for you to meet them! These fascinating rodents are highly sociable and have a lot to teach us about the way we communicate. They are also being studied by scientists for things like diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease.

11) Vodka Bar

Unwind with a drink at the Vodka Bar! As always, you can also enjoy delicious beer, wine, and smoking cocktails.

12) Four different DJs

A festival this epic needs more than one DJ! Rock out on the dance floor all night with four different DJs: DJ Souffle, DJ Prince Hakim, DJ Rob Cast, and Bizz Nice.
