Liberty Science Center is going to the dogs...literally! Our next LSC After Dark event for guests 21 and over is “Paws and Prosecco” on May 16, 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Click here for tickets.

Join us for this celebration of furry friends. Grab a drink, meet fascinating creatures, enjoy prosecco tastings, and discover amazing animal abilities.

1) Goat yoga

Yes, you read that right! At the event, you’ll get to participate in goat yoga with real goats from Totes Goats. And best of all? The goats will be in pajamas! Experience the fun between 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm.

2) A petting zoo with piglets, rabbits, and more

In addition to goats, Totes Goats is bringing along several animals for you to meet at our petting zoo. Get up close with piglets, chickens, guinea pigs, and rabbits. As with goat yoga, you can experience this activity between 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm.

3) Wags and Whiskers Expo

Right when you enter the building, you’ll get to experience our Wags and Whiskers Expo, filled with vendors celebrating furry friends!

Meet representatives from several different animal rescue groups. Learn from experts at the Meadowlands Veterinary Hospital about plants and food to keep away from your pets. Discover more about Apollo Peak Pet Wine, a company that makes non-alcoholic wines for cats and dogs. Explore 3D-printed prosthetics made here in LSC’s MakerLab, and learn how 3D printing is used to help injured animals.

We’ll also be joined by K9 Confections, an Asbury Park-based shop that specializes in premium and all-natural dog and cat treats.

4) Prosecco tastings

Yum! Enjoy delicious prosecco tastings from La Marca and Elmo Pio, courtesy of Jersey City Super Buy-Rite.

5) Specialty Prosecco Bar

In addition to the prosecco tastings, we’ll have a Specialty Prosecco Bar with unique cocktails for you to try! Stay tuned as we reveal the cocktails on the menu.

6) Food vendors from Midnight Market

Midnight Market returns this month with delicious food from local vendors, at only $5 per plate (cash only, please).

7) Black Holes planetarium show

Embark on a dangerous and mysterious journey into a supermassive black hole! This month, you can experience our Black Holes show in LSC’s Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium, the biggest planetarium in the Western Hemisphere. Catch the show at 7:00 pm or 8:30 pm.

8) Laser Unleashed laser show

Experience our new laser show, Laser Unleashed, featuring dog-themed songs that will be sure to make you howl! Some of the titles include “Who Let the Dogs Out” by Baha Men and “Dog Days Are Over” by Florence + The Machine. Experience the show at 7:45 pm or 9:15 pm.

Like the planetarium show, you can experience Laser Unleashed when you make an additional $5 donation to support our programs for 91,000 students from at-risk communities. (Please make your donation in person at the event.)

9) Tick Talk

Did you know May is Tick-Borne Disease Awareness Month? Join Dr. Andrea Egizi, New Jersey’s tick expert, for a special presentation at 8:00 pm in LSC’s Joseph D. Williams 3D Science Theater.

This special presentation is included in your general LSC After Dark admission.

10) The Rat Olympics

Discover the amazing abilities of rats at LSC’s Rat Olympics! Watch our rats go for gold by leaping hurdles, jumping off diving boards, climbing across tightropes, and displaying all the behaviors that make them so good at surviving in the wild.

At the Rat Olympics, you can also learn about how we care for our animals here at the Science Center! The rats are trained using only positive reinforcements, such as having their backs scratched and receiving treats.

Experience the Rat Olympics at 7:30 pm in our Eat and Be Eaten exhibition.

11) Superpower Dogs 3D movie

At LSC After Dark: Paws and Prosecco, you can get a special sneak preview of Liberty Science Center’s newest 3D film, Superpower Dogs!

Journey around the globe to meet remarkable dogs who save lives and discover the powerful bond they share with their human partners. Some of the pups you’ll meet are trained in disaster response, work as lifeguards and avalanche rescuers, help people with special needs, and more.

Experience the show at 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm. Like the planetarium and laser show, you can experience Superpower Dogs when you make an additional $5 donation to support our programs for 91,000 students from at-risk communities. (Please make your donation in person at the event.)

12) Barkly Pets at the Innovation Station

Our LSC After Dark events always feature the latest in must-see tech at our Innovation Station!

This month, we’ll be joined by the company Barkly Pets, who will be showing off their dog walking app. Learn how the app connects dog owners with dog walkers in local cities. The app even allows users to track dog walks with GPS tracking, complete with up-to-the-minute updates and photos of the walk.

13) Last chance for The International Exhibition of Sherlock Holmes

This month is your last chance to experience LSC’s premium exhibition, The International Exhibition of Sherlock Holmes! For an additional $6, you can travel back in time to London in the 1890s and uncover a thrilling murder mystery in the spirit of the classic Sherlock stories. Follow the clues, examine the blood spatters, study the crime scene, and crack the case!

14) Make dog treats, identify animal tracks, create an enrichment activity, and more

The building will be filled with activities, experiments, and labs celebrating our animal pals!

Learn to make your own no-bake dog treats and identify animal poop in our third floor lab. Play a unique game of “Guess Who?” by identifying animal tracks in our fourth floor lab. Head to our Eat and Be Eaten exhibition and create an enrichment activity for LSC’s own animals.

15) See your pet in the Pet Hall of Fame

Pets aren’t allowed at this party, but they can still be part of the fun!

All submissions will be entered in the Pet Hall of Fame at the event! We’ll also choose a handful of photo winners (the funnier, the better) to win free tickets to the party.
