Happy birthday, Tortellini!
Tortellini the red-footed tortoise turns 1 year old on January 20, 2013!
Tortellini spends his days munching on leafy greens and fruit. He weighs 68 g — just about the same as a stack of 12 quarters.
We still don’t know if Tortellini is a boy or a girl, but we look forward to finding out in a few years. When red-footed tortoises reach approximately 6-7 inches in length, the shape of their shells and tails change to indicate whether they’re male or female. Currently, Tortellini is only about 2.5 inches long.
