Earlier this week our friends from Bee Bold Apiaries stopped by the Science Center to collect honeycomb from our two outdoor bee hives.

Yesterday they extracted the honey and we’re happy to report that it was a little over 100lbs! Last year our bees produced 68lbs of honey.

We’re excited the bees have done so well this year especially after such a long and brutal winter. Guests have a chance to learn more about how beekeepers extract honey from hives during our very popular science program Beekeeping: The Sweetest Science.
