It has been a good year for the bees at Liberty Science Center.

Last week, our friends at Bee Bold Apiaries paid a visit to LSC to collect honey from the two outdoor bee hives. We are happy to report that they extracted a hearty 90 pounds of honey from our hardworking bees.

“This was a good summer for them,” says Joseph Lelinho of Bee Bold Apiaries. “There was a lot of sun, and that’s helpful for the bees.”

Want to see the bees yourself? Visit our “Honey Bees: Home Is Where the Hive Is” installation on the third floor and watch the bees as they come in and out of the hive, convert nectar into honey and store it in the honeycomb cells.
