LSC turns into Westeros for ‘Game of Thrones’-inspired event

LSC After Dark

Iron Thrones. Faceless Men. Dragons! The night of Nov. 16, Liberty Science Center was packed with activities and experiments inspired by Game of Thrones for our latest LSC After Dark event for guests 21 and over: “Whiskey & Winter Are Coming.”

Both fans and non-fans had a blast as we brought the hit series to life in several unique ways.

Upon entering the building, guests were greeted by a Hall of Faces, inspired by the wall of dead faces from the show. Our Hall of Faces was built with body scanners and 3D printers, and included a hole for guests to insert their own faces.

From there, guests made their way to our Iron Throne – which was designed with a laser cutter – and took photos on the iconic seat of the Lord of the Seven Kingdoms.

At the Hair-Braiding Station, guests received a Daenerys-inspired hairstyle. In the Wildling Archery Challenge, people grabbed bow and arrows and practiced their archery skills on real-life Wildlings.

At multiple times throughout the night, we held “A Show of Ice and Fire” in our Joseph D. Williams 3D Science Theater. This live show, starring an LSC STEM Educator, featured a jaw-dropping display of hot and cool experiments.

Visitors enjoyed delicious whiskey tastings, courtesy of Jersey Wine and Spirits, as well as cocktails from the Specialty Whiskey Bar.

Midnight Market NJ also returned this month with $5 food vendors (some vendors this month included Cryo Cream, Taste of Poland, Eemas Cuisine, Toja Kitchen, and Sisig City).

Upstairs, guests channeled their inner Daenerys and met a real dragon – a bearded dragon! – from LSC’s own collection.

All the exhibitions at LSC were open for guests to explore, including Touch Tunnel, Infinity Climber, Eat and Be Eaten, and Wonder Why. Guests also experienced our new super-premium exhibition, Star Trek: The Starfleet Academy Experience.

Over on the dance floor, guests rocked out to DJ U-f-OsO. We held a costume contest at the end of the night since there were so many terrific outfits! Congratulations to all the finalists.
