LSC After Dark

On Dec. 1, 2022, we were joined by the world-renowned astrophysicist and planetary scientist Dr. Sara Seager for our latest Space Talk in the planetarium!

Dr. Seager is a Professor of Planetary Science and Physics at MIT, as well as a recipient of LSC’s Genius Award.

For her Space Talk, Dr. Seager explored the mysteries of the brightest planet in a presentation called “Is There Life on Venus?”

While the surface of Venus may be inhospitable for life – with a scorching temperature of 850°F – conditions inside the thick clouds of Venus may allow for life to form. Using the largest planetarium in the country, Dr. Seager took guests on a journey through Venus’ clouds to explore this possibility.

She also took a look at the exciting Venus Life Finder mission series, which is led by Dr. Seager!

Join us for our next FREE Space Talk on Jan. 5: “A New View of the Milky Way,” led by Dr. Kathryn Johnston from Columbia University, only at LSC After Dark. Click here to learn more and reserve your spot.
