Dr. Bill Tansey, LSC Board Chairman, named a finalist for Healthcare Heroes Award

When NJBIZ honored New Jersey’s top “Healthcare Heroes” on June 21, we were not too surprised to see Dr. William A. Tansey III among the finalists. Dr. Tansey has been a hero at Liberty Science Center for a long, long time.

Dr. Tansey was nominated in the Public Health Hero category. He has supported the work of the Science Center for more than 23 years, and for the last seven years as Chairman of LSC’s Board of Trustees. He is the founder and champion of the “Live From Surgery” program, LSC’s flagship healthcare education experience, which has allowed more than 95,000 students around the world to witness surgery and ask a surgical team questions about surgical procedures through videoconferencing technology.

Outside his work with LSC, Dr. Tansey devotes time to multiple public health causes. He is Ambassador for the American Heart Association of Northern New Jersey and Chairman of the AHA Advocacy Committee. He also helped found the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services Cardiovascular Health Advisory Panel, and the Overlook Cardiac Health Fair—an annual event that educates the community about cardiovascular disease and innovations in treatment.

As Dr. Tansey transitions to a new role at LSC as Honorary Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Trustees, we congratulate him on his latest achievement.
