Silent night, indeed. Last night, Liberty Science Center got totally quiet for our first LSC After Dark event of 2017, “Silent Party.”
Every month, our LSC After Dark parties for guests 21 and over feature amazing music, a killer DJ, and an excellent emcee to pump up the crowd. This month, we had all those things…you just couldn’t hear any of it, until you put on our headphones!
When people put on the headphones, they got to choose between three different DJ – Rob Cast, Nikki Mixx, and Kevlove – each with a different musical style. Hip hop? Rock and roll? Top 40/guilty pleasure? It was totally up to our guests to choose what music they wanted to hear while rocking out on the dance floor.
Our LSC After Dark Ambassador Lynn “ChicpeaJC” Hazan and emcee Hayoner kept the energy going, all while communicating to the partiers via their headphones.
The whole party was “lit” – literally – thanks to the luminous headphones and the black lights that filled the atrium. We also brought along representatives from the School of Makeup Effects to paint the partiers in glowing body paint.
The party featured an amazing menu, with guests munching on flatbread paninis, BBQ nachos, southwest chicken egg rolls, and more. There were also delicious cocktails, such as the “Aurora Jungle Juice” and “Sonic Screwdriver.”
When taking a break from the dance floor, guests played games such as “Shut Up & Draw” where they had to use their imagination and creativity to figure out a secret word. No talking allowed! Over in Our Hudson Home, guests got to view colorful Chladni plates that made patterns from the vibrations of the noise frequencies in the building.
Guests also got to play a version of charades involving sign language, and watch drone races in PSE&G Court.
We also challenged our guests with the Block Party Challenge! Guests used foam blocks to make different shapes, and prizes went to the best creations. Congratulations to the first place winner:
Due to popular demand, we brought back the Prince laser show in our massive IMAX Dome Theater. Guests filled the theater and rocked out to music from The Purple One.It may have been a silent party, but people can’t stop talking about it! Check out more photos on our Facebook album. Thanks again to everyone who came out last night.
