Brush up on your animal knowledge for World Wildlife Day

LSC News

March 3 is World Wildlife Day, but of course, we celebrate wildlife every day here at Liberty Science Center! You can get up-close with dozens of animal species in our Eat and Be Eaten and Our Hudson Home galleries.

We’ve pulled up some interesting facts about a few of them, but they seem to be missing their corresponding animals! Can you fill in the blanks with the correct species?

1) The __________ is listed as endangered by the IUCN due to habitat loss.

2) A ___________ can rotate their eyes independently of each other. They can be found in Madagascar.

3) The __________ play a huge role in shaping their local plant communities and aid in soil fertilization by adding aeration, nutrients, and drainage with their nests.

4) A single _________ can lay up to 20,000 eggs, which are an important food source for migrating birds.

5) A guest favorite here at LSC, the ________, are a critically endangered species.

Were you able to figure these out? You can check your answers by clicking here.

Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for news about our upcoming Conversation Week Celebration, happening April 2 – 8. We'll have some wild details coming soon!
