Stay up late and experience the lunar eclipse with us at Lunar Mania, Jan. 20!
On this day, the Science Center will be open from 9:00 am through 1:00 am as we celebrate the total lunar eclipse—the first since 2015! (Note: The eclipse activities begin at 6:00 pm, but you are free to join us at any point during the day or night.)
All of our exhibitions will be open. We’ll also have telescopes out on the lawn for you to enjoy the eclipse alongside LSC educators who will be there to answer all of your questions. Video of the eclipse will also be streamed inside on our massive screens, providing a perfect view, rain or shine.
Oh, and did we mention we'll have laser tag, too?
Throughout the night, you can catch our special eclipse-themed show in the Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium. Get an immersive look at this astronomical event inside the biggest planetarium in the Western Hemisphere! We will have shows at 6:20 pm, 7:10 pm, 7:50 pm, 8:30 pm, 9:10 pm, 9:50 pm, 10:30 pm, and a special Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon Laser Show at 11:10 pm. Plus, enjoy a live presentation on some of the cultural and historical significance of eclipses.
All ages are welcome to join us for this special evening event!
Guests 21 and over can enjoy lunar-themed cocktails throughout the night: the "Moonlight" and "Total Eclipse." We'll also have delicious snacks in our cafe.
Additional activities include a make-your-own crater adventure, face painting, and an astronaut glove challenge: Can you perform simple tasks while wearing an astronaut glove?
